Dear Editor, – I was surprised to read the opinion of the Traffic Commissioner for Scotland (PA, April 17) where the withdrawal of the operating licence for Bankfoot Buses was reported.
Bankfoot Buses have provided a reliable, regular and cheap service for people from Dunkeld, Birnam and Bankfoot to get to and from Perth.
We had a bus service that ran every hour in each direction, something that, until Bankfoot Buses came along, didn’t happen before.
It would now appear that, despite the poor service levels that rural residents had before, nothing is to be allowed to disturb the Stagecoach monopoly. I hope that there is a route of appeal for Bankfoot Buses and would support such an appeal if it were to be made.
