Trees felled on college site

Dear Editor, – Today is a sad day. The trees near the college nursery at the Crieff Road “reputed to be only 20-years-old” are being felled. Yet another woodland gone. What is even more upsetting is part of the nursery's garden will also be taken away which the children worked so hard on.

Sadly with the demise of trees and the proposed student accommodation development there will probably be more flooding. Each time it now heavily rains, water can be seen flowing down the Crieff Road. People who have gardens bordering on the college grounds are also having problems with flooding. Even more worrying is that because of the torrential rain we have been having, some Feus Road residents have been having raw sewage floating in their gardens. I would call that a health hazard.

Yet despite, or perhaps in spite of this, a further development was agreed in chambers on college property. This new development of 110 houses will mean that more trees will be felled with the inevitable result. When will the people who are suffering these floods be listened to?
