Backlash over an opinion about Editor’s homestead

DEAR Editor, – With reference to the Opinion Column (PA, August 21), I feel I must take you to task on this latest report.

1 – I live a few miles along the road from yourself and certainly do not think we live in the back of beyond. Try Glen Lyon or somewhere like that if you think you are hard done to. Why did you choose to live where you do if you were not prepared to put up with a few changes from living in a big city?

2 The cottage you live in may have been a farm labourer's home at one time, but it has been beautifully converted. No house is ever perfect. Again, why choose this house if you did not think you would be happy there?

3 – Our local post office clearly states opening hours and, with a little sensible planning, you would have no trouble posting any parcel, letter or carrying out any other transaction still allowed to be carried out by this establishment.

I think an apology to all concerned is called for.

Sheena Johnston.
