Dear Editor, – Due to weather conditions over the festive period I was walking home on Hogmanay at the end of my shift after visiting one of my patients in the community.
I was in the Letham area when I came across an elderly lady attempting to go to the shops for milk and bread. She had a walking frame which she was lifting over big lumps of snow and ice.
As she lives up a steep hill it was clear she was not going to manage this and was at risk of injury to herself. She allowed me to assist her back home and I went to the shop for her milk and bread.
She lives in a lower flat in a block of four and I noticed no one had cleared the snow off the path leading to her house.
I would just like to ask that people give their elderly neighbours a thought during times when the weather is so bad. It’s been very difficult for us all lately so please give people less able than yourself a thought.
