Noisy clear-up annoys cafe customer

Dear Editor, – As a regular visitor to cafes in and around Perth, I would like to point out that it is most off-putting that tables are cleared, floors swept and chairs placed on top of tables at least 30 minutes before the place is due to close.

If a cafe says it closes at 4.30pm then it should start clearing up after that time.

It is annoying and makes you feel you should not be there.

I know staff want to get home but banging about with chairs is not the way to encourage future custom.
