Saints perform better in front of big crowds?

Dear Editor, – As a lifelong supporter of Derby County Football Club, and more recently a supporter of St Johnstone (I attend every time I can when visiting Perth) you will understand that ‘my cup runneth over’ after last weekend’s results. Derby have won all their games so far this season, and then, wonderfully, St Johnstone humiliated the mighty Celtic in Glasgow. I noted that Celtic had an attendance of more than 40,000, and last time I looked McDiarmid Park attracted around 3,500 for a home game. Could it be that the Blues perform better in front of big crowds?

It surprises and saddens me, watching from afar, that more people do not support their home team in Perth, considering the excellence of the facilities, the courtesy of the staff, and the enthusiasm of the players.
