Remarks are outdated and sexist

Dear Editor, – I have just choked on my breakfast after reading John Eoin Douglas’ letter in Friday’s Perthshire Advertiser.

I’m not entirely sure whether it is naivety or stupidity on his part which led to a) the writing of the letter in the first place and b) sending you in his home address. I suspect, give the sexist nature of his comments it is entirely the latter.

Mr Douglas would appear to be making the spurious point that women (specifically those who can drive) are responsible for high road budgets, mass unemployment, and juvenile obesity.

He seems to have missed the fact that for centuries this country has been run by men.

His outdated, sexist remarks tell me everything I need to know about him. And in true Darwinian style, I can be confident of the fact that his type will ultimately die out, clearly lacking the skills and wherewithal to survive in the modern world.

I wonder what would happen if his comments were posted on Twitter and Facebook, complete with his address intact?
