Shore Road plan set out by council

DEAR Editor, – It was disappointing to read your headline in last Friday’s Perthshire Advertiser which alleges that I have “ducked” debate about the planning application at Shore Road in Perth.Read

Waverley Hotel, ‘For goodness sake’ indeed!

Dear Editor, – I am glad to see that in these days of gloom, recession and repossession, the PA has not lost its, albeit ironic, sense of humour, as indicated by prominently printing Bridget McGregor's letter regarding the Waverley Hotel!Read

Run-down blight on landscape

Dear Editor, – Why does your newspaper continue to refer to the Waverley Hotel as a “flagship” homeless shelter (Page 3, PA Tuesday, September 8) ?Read

Incinerator plan is a health risk

DEAR Editor, – Since the proposal for an incinerator to be built at Friarton came to light, there have been continuous articles and letters in the local Press, with strong rhetoric from MP Pete Wishart (SNP), local Councillor Peter Barrett (Lib/ Dems), Peter Lyburn (Conservative candidate) – and now we have Perthshire Chamber of Commerce joining the fray.Read

Candidate is under fire

DEAR Editor, – I wish to commend the commitment and engagement of the Bridgend Gannochy and Kinnoull Community councillors in response to threats posed to the whole of Perth by the proposal from Grundon Waste Management to build a massive waste-burning power station in the heart of our community.Read

Trees felled on college site

Dear Editor, – Today is a sad day. The trees near the college nursery at the Crieff Road “reputed to be only 20-years-old” are being felled. Yet another woodland gone. What is even more upsetting is part of the nursery's garden will also be taken away which the children worked so hard on.Read

Suspicious minds at work over supermarket

Dear Editor, – What is it about contentious planning applications that kindles in the mind a form of suspicion so strong that inevitably gives rise to mistrust of local authority, akin to the national sentiment over a government which has “lost all moral authority?” (Quote Caroline Lucas, Green Party, whose aspiration was towards “government not overshadowed by corporate lobbying.”)Read
