A man who likes to live dangerously

I THINK we can look forward to a lively debate (to say the least) at the eagerly-anticipated City Halls meeting organised by Pete Wishart MP next Thursday.

I must say that I don’t envy Roddy Young the task of presenting the Civic Trust’s case for retention, particularly when he’s on record as supporting demolition (in a personal capacity of course). Obviously a man who likes to live dangerously!

Councillor Ian Miller’s first major foray into the debate also makes for interesting reading, and I think he’s quite right to remind all concerned that the original consultation process which arrived at the “Wharfside solution” was both extensive and exhaustive.

But while we are all looking at the present situation through “hindsight spectacles”, there is also no doubt that the retail idea is dead in the water, and I for one would have liked to hear more from Cllr Miller about how PKC intends to take the matter forward assuming that the worst happens, and Wharfside cannot secure tenants.
