Bible billboards to herald Easter-time

MINISTERS representing six Perth churches banded together this week to unveil a new Bible billboard to bring in the launch of “6 Hours Good Friday,” the city’s biggest ever gospel outreach to celebrate Easter.

The focal point will see the organisers literally “lift high the cross” in Perth and Scone to tell the good news story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Six specially-made 15-foot high wooden crosses will be stationed at six locations around the city for six hours – from 9am to 3pm on Good Friday, April 10.

Reenactments depicting the crucifixion will take place on each site, complete with Roman soldiers and bystanders in period costume.

Special free screenings of the Jesus Film, the most watched film of all time, will follow on Saturday, April 11 at the Playhouse Cinema, Letham St Mark's Church of Scotland and the Salvation Army.

Mervyn Milne, director of People With a Mission Ministries and Senior Pastor of Perth Christian Fellowship, commented: “Now more than ever, our city needs to know the Good News of the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ.

“We would encourage everyone to come along with friends and family to one of the six sites to get a sense of the real meaning of Easter, to come and see the Jesus Film and join in a range of events taking place at city churches over the Easter season.”

Around 26,000 invitations and information packs are being delivered to every home in the city and surrounding communities.

The packs contain a short DVD, The Remedy, details of the six reenactments points around the city and of the Easter programmes of events at participating churches.

The Easter reenactments with the six crosses will take place on April 10 at the High Street, Perth City Centre; National Christian Outreach Centre, Riggs Road; Letham St Mark’s Church of Scotland, Rannoch Road; Trinity Church of the Nazarene, York Place; South Inch, Edinburgh Road; and Scone New Church of Scotland, Angus Road, Scone.

Screenings of the Jesus Film will be held on April 11 at 2pm at the Salvation Army, 77 South Street; at 6.20pm and 8.40pm at the Playhouse Cinema, Murray Street; and at 7pm at Letham St Mark's Church of Scotland, Rannoch Road, Perth.

Participating churches include The Salvation Army, Letham St Mark’s Church of Scotland, Perth Christian Fellowship, Perth Free Church of Scotland, Scone New Church of Scotland, and Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
