Aytoun Hall ready for new makeover

AUCHTERARDER’S Aytoun Hall this week moved one step nearer its much-anticipated make-over when the Auchterarder Leisure and Recreation Association and Perth and Kinross Council officially lodged their plans for the refurbishment of the town centre with the council’s planning department.

The project is being part-funded by the Scottish Government as a gesture of gratitude to the people of Auchterarder following the G8 Summit at Gleneagles Hotel in 2005.

The key proposals for the listed building are:

The configuration of ground floor spaces creating a new open entrance/gallery area, relocated PKC office and meeting rooms, galley and commercial kitchens, and the creation of new toilets and storage areas;

The installation of a lift to the upper floor and the re-instatement of the former snooker hall to a new small hall;

Improvements to heating, lighting and IT infrastructure; and

General furnishing and equipping of the hall to a modern standard.

Subject to all the necessary permissions being in place, the hall is scheduled to close from August 1 this year until October 1, 2010.

THE hamlet of Path of Condie in the Ochils could mushroom if two planning applications involving a total of nine new houses are given the green light.

Rosyth-based Colorado Homes Ltd seek permission for an up-market development at Pathgreen Farm.

One application involves the conversion of outbuildings to form three houses plus the erection of six new dwellings.

The second application lodged this week seeks listed building consent for the B-Listed farmhouse and outbuildings.

A WINDFARM ‘croft’ comprising four 15kw wind turbines is planned for farmland at the foot of the Lomond Hills in Kinross-shire.

The plans have been submitted by Robert Erskine, Newlands Farm, Milnathort.

The turbines will be sited on Newlands Farm, which lies off the B919 to Balgedie.

A NEW equestrian centre is planned for an area of agricultural land at Cairnfold Farm, Blairingone, on the Kinross-shire/Clackmannanshire border.

The full planning application to Perth and Kinross Council by Cairnfold Limited proposes the erection of an indoor equestrian area, stable block of 42 looseboxes and ancillary facilities, two four-bedroomed houses and associated works.
