THE new owners of a Luncarty Care Home have lodged detailed plans for a major investment in the Marshall Way building, to “secure its long-term future.”
In a supporting letter to Perth and Kinross Council’s planning department, the agent for owners, Forfar-based Balhousie Care Group, points out that the building was in very poor condition and threatened with closure by the Care Commission when the company took over Luncarty Care Home.
The proposed major expansion of the home involves construction of a large one-and-a-half-storey extension behind the existing building, housing 18 new bedrooms, lounges on both floors and other facilities.
Within the existing building some rooms will be altered to provide en-suite facilities and car parking spaces will be increased to 11.
l THE erection of four commercial units with associated car parking on a disused goods yard Site at Candlehouse Lane, Coupar Angus, forms an outline planning application lodged this week by Nortel Leisure Ltd.
l THE existing informal parking area at Aberfeldy Cemetery, on the bank of the River Tay, is to be re-designed and landscaped to provide a formal car park for up to 22 vehicles and an interpretation area.
The project involving “very low key changes to the site” was instigated within Perth and Kinross Council to resolve traffic and safety issues but the planning application and delivery of the improvements are being undertaken by Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust.
l McEwens of Perth are planning to extend their Watergate ‘At Home’ floorspace by changing office-storage space into a coffee shop and further retail area.
The area of the proposed coffee shop adjacent to the pend between Tay Street and Watergate was once occupied by the printing press of the Perthshire Advertiser.
