SPORTS Council chairman Bob Ellis has appealed for area representatives to step forward for Perth City and the Carse of Gowrie.
The local sports council enjoys enthusiastic cover across most of Perth and Kinross.
Now, reps enjoy backing and support from an active schools co-ordinator enabling the sports council and local authority to keep tabs on what’s happening across the district.
Reflecting on the past 12 months, he said lessons had been learned from the revived Perth 10K race and those would be rolled out to ensure a smoother 2009 event.
Strathtay Harriers and Perth Roadrunners are assisting with the route and the run will be bigger and better.
Perth will host the 2010 mini-Olympics involving Aschaffenburg and Bydgoszcz, following a victorious visit to Germany last year.
At the recent Sports Personality of the Year Awards, Councillor Ellis was looking forward to seeing local competitors making an impact at the Olympics in London and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The latter event will see competing nations teamed-up with areas around Scotland.
