THE Battlefield Band has been performing on the international scene for more than 30 years.
And they have established themselves as a major influence on the modern Scottish traditional music scene.
They trailblazed where many others have followed, pioneering the integration of bagpipes with fiddle, keyboards, guitar and vocals, and creating the fusion sound which is attracting new generations to listen to and play traditional music.
The music industry recognised this feat in 2003 when The Battlefield Band won Best Live Act at the inaugural Scots Traditional Music Awards.
And 2008 is proving a vintage year for the band, who come to Perth Festival in the wake of their appearance on Mike Harding's Radio 2 show earlier this year. The Battlefield Band are also celebrating the news the virtuoso fiddle player Alasdair White’s solo album ‘An Clar Gael’ was the winner of the World Traditional Album category at the seventh Annual Independent Music Awards in the USA.
Under their banner ‘Forward With Scotland’s Past’, The Battlefield Band play at Perth Theatre on May 27.
This concert will feature material from their current album ‘Dookin’.
