THE Fifth Blairgowrie and East Perthshire Walking Festival kicks off today (Friday).
Around 200 walkers, from all the UK, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium and the Orkneys, are expected to descend on the East Perthshire town to participate in a selection of guided walks.
The 2008 programme features 23 walks, including new hills, as well as some old favourites, including the Cateran Trail. The trails range from easy-themed riverside walks to long distance routes, Munro, Corbett, Graham and even Marilyn bagging and two classics; Tarmachan Ridge and Jock's Road.
There will also be guided night time walks – one to the top of a Munro and the other a Ranger-guided nature walk around Blairgowrie.
