PETE Wishart, SNP MP for Perth and North Perthshire, yesterday congratulated his former colleagues in the Gaelic rock band, Runrig, on securing Scotland’s best-loved song, with their version of Loch Lomond.
Before Pete swapped his keyboard for political soapbox, he featured on the classic version of Loch Lomond, as well as being a founder member of Big Country, who came second with their song Fields of Fire.
Runrig were presented with the Scotscare sponsored award on St Andrew’s Day in London.
The enduring band are currently on a Scottish tour, which comes to Perth Concert Hall tomorrow evening.
Speaking on the award, Pete said: “I am also very pleased that Big Country secured the runners-up spot. As a founder member of the band, this is a great tribute to the song writing skills of the late Stuart Adamson.”
Butterstone-based Dougie MacLean took third place with Caledonia.
