SCOTS rockers CoPilot Effect plan to take a Perth venue by storm this weekend.
The power-packed five-piece, who rose from the ashes of now-defunct outfit The Ocean Floor two years ago, will appear at the Twa Tams on Friday as part of a short Scottish tour.
CPE drummer Gav Hopper told Music Scene he believes exciting times lie ahead for the hotly-tipped Glasgow combo.
“At the moment we are working on our debut album and have a number of session offers backing up as we attempt to balance work and family life with the band.
“Several music sites and a few labels have offered to put some of our demos out on compilation albums, either as downloads or CDs.
“All in all things are going pretty well, mostly though we just enjoy playing.”
Gav claimed the band is an ego-free zone, with the diverse tastes of all five members contributing equally to the CoPilot sound, which boasts swathes of violin and synths beside guitars, drums and bass.
“Our bassist, the lovely Julie, joined just three weeks before we went into the studio for the first time and we poached our violinist from a great band called The State Broadcasters,” said the sticksman.
“A three-track demo which included D11, Slow It Down and Russian Dolls proved popular and the promo copies which we gave away for free disappeared fast.
“But it was by no means perfect and since then we have spent time honing our live and recorded sound.”
CPE have been working on a number of new tracks for inclusion on a debut album due for release next year, and have made a few demo tracks available to download through their myspace site and website mailing list.
Admitting an overly uncompromising stance had proved to be the downfall of his previous group, Gav said he wants listeners to let the group know how they rate their material.
“We are always keen to hear feedback from our fans,” he insisted.
“CoPilot Effect doesn't want to be a faceless band and we try to spend time connecting with our audience.
“We spent so much time in previous bands just thinking about making it big we forgot about the music.”
Friday’s show at Scott Street starts at 8pm.
