BLUES rockers Wang Dang Delta launch their new album in Perth this week.
The follow-up to their acclaimed debut Paper Boat, songs from the Wangs’ latest effort Delta Road are to be given the live treatment on Thursday at the AK Bell Library Theatre.
As with the band’s debut, the new CD was recorded at Butterstone Studios, by Dunkeld, with Jamie MacLean engineering.
Featuring 11 tracks, all self-penned, Wangs’ guitarist Pete Caban described Delta Road as “a labour of love” for the popular outfit.
“We’ve always strained at the leash a bit and that’s probably why we have often been referred to as ‘blues and beyond’,” he told Music Scene yesterday.
“The strength of our songwriting, coupled with the many and varied influences which we each bring to the band, mean that the CD is a bit of an emotional roller-coaster.
“It ranges from the rockabilly mayhem of The Ultimate Shoe through to the tear-jerking pathos of The Death You’ll Never Die and all points in between.
“Underpinning it all is the sense of the six of us enjoying what we do.
“We are confident that those who come to the launch will share that enjoyment.”
Supporting WDD on Thursday will be the Fair City’s own Lady Miss Emma, who is taking time out from The Joy Foundation.
The band added to their growing reputation when they supported Jools Holland at Scone Palace last year and have also shared bills with Perth-based troubadour Roberto Cassani.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 8pm, cost £8 and are available from Perth’s Bandwagon on 01738 637714.
Those attending will be able to purchase the new CD at a discounted price.
