Humble Hobos impress

ENTHUSIASTIC audience participation prevailed when country-rockers The Humble Hobos rolled up in the Fair City.

Those present in a small crowd made a party of it when the lively outfit played at Greyfriars Bar in Perth’s South Street as part of the Month of Sundays festivities.

The Hobos’ distinctive blend of “whisky-fuelled country”, crossed with a folk-style that evokes nights spent sleeping on the streets proved to be the perfect antidote to the Scottish summer drizzle.

Everyone present looked out their dance shoes for the band’s Credence Clearwater Revival covers, while their version of Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door provoked an inevitably huge singalong.

A roof-raising rendition of Sweet Home Alabama made for the perfect finale.

Featuring Aaron Brake (right) on lead vocals and guitar, Chris Woods (guitars / vocals), Cameron Nicol (bass) and Grant Foster (percussion), the Perthshire band has just finished recording a six-track EP.

Further gigs along the lines of the Hobos’ ‘Amos’ appearance should help the release gain some valuable exposure.
