McNabb’s cosy concert date

A PERTH pub will be the unlikely venue for a unique event featuring one of the UK’s most talented singer-songwriters of the past 25 years.

Former Icicle Works frontman Ian McNabb will be playing to a select audience of around 40 music fans at an exclusive party in the Robert Burns Lounge on October 18.

The informal and intimate ‘concert’ on Saturday week is the latest in a series of Myspace-linked appearances the Love Is A Wonderful Colour singer has made around the UK this year.

In a unique twist on the concept of the up close and personal live performance, McNabb (47) takes bookings from fans requesting him to play in bizarre venues like people’s living rooms.

The acclaimed performer’s impending Perth gig has been organised by Fair City accountant Sandy Fyfe.

Earlier this year he masterminded the release of the star-studded, three-disc charity compilation album Doing It For The Kids ‘08, to raise funds for the Glasgow-based Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, which helps sick youngsters.

The Burns, in County Place, will be shut on the evening of next week’s gig, which can only be attended through personal invitations.

Liverpool-born McNabb (47), who reformed Icicle Works two years ago, is due to release his autobiography ‘Merseybeast’ on October 17.
