Surprises from Windows

PERTH rockers The Windows take their eclectic sounds to the Twa Tams this weekend.

Athole Fleming’s hard-gigging outfit will appear at the Scott Street venue on Sunday in a specially-arranged bank holiday show.

The frontman said fans can expect a few surprises in the 2½-hour concert, which kicks off at 9.30pm.

“We are working right now on around eight or so new songs to add to our playlist as we have quite a few major events this year,” Fleming told Music Scene.

“I want to keep the band’s music fresh and exciting for us and our audiences.

“We are also looking at possible ideas for next year, as we want to be involved with the Perth 800 celebrations. I am always keen to try different venues and different things.”

Meanwhile, a few tickets for The Windows’ inaugural Perth Electric Prom, which will also feature Big County acts Wang Dang Delta and Southpaw, are still available from Bandwagon Music in the Fair City’s St Paul’s Square.

The Perth Festival of the Arts fringe event takes place on Friday, May 29 in the AK Bell Library Theatre.

Prior to sets from the three local favourites, there will be a wine reception accompanied by classical music performed by a young Perthshire quartet.

Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, can also be obtained by calling 01738 637714.
