Gigs at the double for trio

FOLKSTERS Tarneybackle will play a brace of Perthshire gigs this weekend.

The Blackford trio will be appearing at free shows in Comrie and Auchterarder as part of a seven-date Scottish tour that also takes in venues from Strathyre to Plockton.

The band, which comprises John Davidson, Sandy Marshall and Lorna Davidson, use a wide range of instruments and strong vocal harmonies.

Since forming nine years ago, Tarneybackle have released four albums on Highlander Records, Tullibardine, Distant Dreams, The Diamond and Winds of Freedom.

See them at Comrie’s Ancaster Arms on Friday from 9pm and Duchally House Hotel, Auchterarder, on Saturday from 8pm.

Meanwhile, more rousing Scottish sounds are in prospect in Pitlochry on Friday with The Battlefield Band.

The tartan outfit will be playing McKays Hotel in Atholl Road ahead of the release of their new album, Zama Zama - Try Your Luck.
