Deed play Dead songs

METAL followers seeking out exciting new acts are being pointed towards a Perth venue this weekend.

Mucky Mulligans continues its campaign to showcase the latest in breaking rock talents on Saturday night with a gig from Workingman’s Deed on Saturday night.

The psychedelic-tinged outfit from Grangemouth play an epic set of songs by The Grateful Dead, which the Canal Street venue’s Deeker Johnston says is “guaranteed to be spectacular”.

But it doesn’t end there. On Sunday, Mulligans is offering up a triple whammy of live HM action.

Epic, crushing post-rockers Mountains Became Machines head up the list, with support from Hitcher and Inches From The Mainland.

Manchester’s Mountains, who are currently out on a full UK tour, will appeal to fans of Pink Floyd, Mastodon or Mogwai. Check them out at www.myspace.com/mountainsbecomemachines

Hitcher, meanwhile, are a six-piece ambient-cum-post-rock / hardcore outfit from Edinburgh in the vein of Think Pelican, Explosions In The Sky and Neurosis.

Completing the bill are newly stripped-down Dundee four-piece Inches From The Mainland.

The progressive post-hardcore unit have been heavily influenced by the likes of Tool, Deftones and Envy.
