A DIVERSE range of unsigned talent is set to turn up the volume at Perth’s Mucky Mulligans this weekend.
The Canal Street venue has four up-and-coming Scottish acts playing on Friday - all of whom have been given the seal of approval by local hardcore guru Deeker Johnston.
Giving the proceedings a localised edge, there’s youthfully exuberant pop-punksters Versaille, who hail from Perth.
You can check them out ahead of the show at their website www.myspace.com/versailleuk
Swing Kinker, who Deeker describes as “gobby melodic punk from Forfar in the style of Descendents”, are also on the bill, along with recently-formed hardcore outfit Plastic Authority, from Edinburgh.
Completing the line-up are Dundee-based noiseniks Team:France, who are heavily influenced by US punksters Blink 182.
Check them all out at www.myspace.com/plasticauthority, www.myspace.com/teamfrances and www.myspace.com/swingkinker1
If that’s not enough, then there’s a triple whammy of bands to look forward to at Mulligans on Saturday.
Perth-based “dirty, lowdown bluesy rock ‘n’ rollers” Bordello Dogs will be joined by a young Fair City four-piece and a troupe of highly-tipped electro-folksters from further east.
Local teenage newcomers Panda Trap cite guitar influences as diverse as The Smiths, The Strokes and Stranglers.
Meanwhile, Dundee act Esperi should represent something of a departure for rock-dominated Mulligans, and a treat for listeners, with their epic electronic tunes.
All three acts have their own myspace sites with samples of their work available to download.
Doors on both nights open at 8pm.
