FORMER members of Scottish indie legends Goodbye Mr MacKenzie are stopping off in Perth on their latest tour.
Isa & The Filthy Tongues, which includes ex-MacKenzies frontman Martin Metcalfe and his long-time cohorts Derek Kelly and Fin Wilson, will be playing the Twa Tams on Saturday.
The Edinburgh-based outfit, who will be plugging their debut album Addiction and playing new tracks, also feature American lead singer Stacey Chavis.
After forming in 2005, The Filthy Tongues were named as the best unsigned band by both Radio One big noise Rob da Bank and by Karmadownload.com.
The four-piece are also favourites of the jocks at Radio Scotland where they’ve performed session tracks.
Live favourites Goodbye Mr MacKenzie released a string of classic singles in the late Eighties, including The Rattler, Face To Face and Open Your Arms.
When the hits dried up in the mid-Nineties, they morphed into Angelfish, with keyboard player Shirley Manson moving up front onto lead vocals.
After Manson left for fame and fortune with Garbage, the remaining MacKenzies revived their original moniker for a short while, but generally kept a low profile until the formation of The Filthy Tongues propelled them back into the spotlight.
One of the new band’s finest moments was their theme song to the Edinburgh-set New Town Killers, the movie directed by former Skids leader Richard Jobson.
The band’s Twa Tams show starts at 9pm on Saturday, with support from Perth’s own Bordello Dogs.
