Hounds Of Audio Prime plan to turn up the volume

PERTH metallers Hounds Of Audio Prime plan to kick start this weekend with a live ‘n’ loud homecoming.

The five-piece will be rocking out at the Twa Tams on Friday after spending recent weeks on the road building up their live following.

Formed from the ashes of former Fair City favourites Whiskeytrail, The Hounds have attracted interest from promotional companies, radio and an American independent record label.

After starting up last November, their myspace site received 15,000 hits and a veritable mountain of friend requests in just a three-month spell.

The Hounds have been heavily influenced by classic rock performers like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Deep Purple, but also cite more recent innovators Raging Slab, Soundgarden and Corrosion Of Conformity as essential reference points.

And guitarist David Bodle told Music Scene the band have been working hard to build on the potent sound they developed in their previous guise.

Whiskeytrail are best remembered as winners of Perth’s battle of the bands competition in 2006, before imploding the following year.

And David said fans can look forward to musical fireworks at the Twa Tams.

“Our live performances are full of energy and passion, a unique and must-see breath of fresh air in a world of sameness,” he declared yesterday.

“We have been playing pretty much everywhere else, which makes coming home a special treat for us.

“It should be a night to remember, especially as we hardly ever play Perth any more.”

The Hounds’ full line-up features ex-Whiskeytrail quartet Bodle, Murray Francis (drums), bassist Andrew Boulton and Ryan Yellowlees on guitar, plus former Leveaux vocalist Rory Morrison.

The gig at the Scott Street venue on Friday, which will feature support from Vantage Point, starts at 9pm and admission is free.
