Perth bands to play at charity festival in Dundee

NOISENIKS are set to create a storm this weekend in aid of a Perth charity.

The Book Yer Ane Fest hardcore extravaganza will be taking place outside the Fair City for the first time.

BYAF started out as Motionfest, in memory of popular Allergo drummer Graham Motion, who died in 2006.

After previously being held at Mucky Mulligans in Perth, the new venue for the all-day fund-raiser will be Dundee’s Club Kage.

The Safe-Tay charity, which benefits from the event, is supporting the move on grounds of larger capacity.

Fourteen acts have already been confirmed for the 300-capacity festival, which will also feature Entropy DJ sets between the bands.

Here, Derrick Johnston gives the low-down on all those taking part.

THE CUT UPS - “Awesome, passionate gruff melodic punk rock from Exeter on the final date of their Scottish tour. Think Snuff, Leatherface, Fugazi and Bouncing Souls and you are in the ball park.”

JOEY TERRIFYING - “Full-blast ska-core punk ‘n’ roll mayhem from the east coast of nowhere playing their last show of 2009.”

TORTURO NERVOSA - “Hulking angular rock beasts from Perth bring the ruckus with their brash brand of twisted punk rock 'n' roll in a No Means No / Shellac / McLusky mould. Since forming a little over a year ago, these nutters have gigged all over the UK and are currently pimping their new Autopsy? EP.”

THE MURDERBURGERS - “Quite possibly the finest Ramones-core, pop-punk band in Europe, these grubby Glaswegians will bring a healthy dose of jaded cynicism and sing-a-long punk goodness to proceedings.”

FRIDAY FIRST - “Intense, soaring, melodic, post-hardcore five-piece from Perth in the vein of Alexisonfire / Underoath / Thrice. Brutal and epic in equal measure, these boys have come into their own this year. Expect insane shred, huge choruses and beatdowns aplenty. Their new Without A Reason, There Isn't A Purpose EP is out now.”
