SCOTTISH alternative rock favourites Biffy Clyro are coming back to Perth.
The exciting Ayrshire trio will kick off their short UK tour next spring with a gig at Perth Concert Hall, the only Scottish appearance on the band’s seven-date outing.
Guitar-playing frontman Simon Neil and twin brothers Ben Johnston (drums) and James Johnston (bass) will appear at the Fair City venue on April 29.
It’ll be their first visit to Perth since they played the Ice Factory in November 2006.
Confirmation of Biffy Clyro’s latest live sojourn comes hot on the heels of their triumphant sold-out UK and Ireland tour in the autumn.
The Kilmarnock lads have gained worldwide respect for their combination of aggression, achingly tender guitar pickings and passionate, lovelorn lyrics.
Biffy originally formed in 1995, with the three childhood friends united by their love of underground, experimental rock and post-hardcore bands such as Braid and Karate, and stadium heavyweights Guns ‘n’ Roses and Metallica.
After refusing to up-sticks from Ayrshire to London, they landed a blow for integrity in 2002 when their gold-selling major label debut Blackened Sky shifted over 250,000 copies.
That was followed by The Vertigo Of Bliss (2003), Infinity Land (2004) and the massive-selling Puzzle (2007), which finally propelled Biffy Clyro out of the underground where they’d been honing their craft and into the mainstream consciousness.
Their latest ‘monster rock’ album Only Revolutions arrived last month, and features hit singles in the shape of Mountains, That Golden Rule and the brass-infused epic The Captain.
Tickets for Biffy Clyro’s Perth gig went on sale last Friday from the Concert Hall and had almost sold out by the end of the day.
A support act is still to be confirmed for the April 29 show, which will start at 7.30pm.
