The Windows look to cash in on Christmas at Twa Tams

PERTH outfit The Windows are hoping to capture a new, ‘mad-for-it’ audience when they play in the Fair City this weekend.

Always up for a riot, the dynamic rockers reckon the potential arrival of waves of over-exuberant office workers in town could make for rich pickings at the merchandise stall.

In the run-up to Christmas frontman Athole Fleming and his cohorts are making a concerted push on sales of their debut album – and they’re praying revellers will have plenty of spare cash to flash when they wind their way to the Twa Tams.

Athole told Music Scene his band’s party-hard philosophy should appeal to gig-goers looking to impress the boss.

“The Windows are sure looking forward to rockin’ and dancin’ on Friday night,” he said yesterday.

“Party Friday, or Mad Friday as it is often called, is the first chance of the Christmas season to really get out and about and let your hair down, and forget work and all the mundane stuff.

“We’ll have some good old rock ‘n’ roll fun, and what better way to get into the weekend than with a great party and live gig.”

The Windows will be punting their 18-track debut CD Hearts And Sleeves at the Tams, in Scott Street, with the band promising to sign copies.

Fleming and co are planning a two-hour set starting at 9.30pm. Entry is free.

Meanwhile, it’s The Windows’ big Christmas party at Greyfriars Bar on Sunday.

The band will be playing at South Street, with wine and a smoked cheese stovie supper also included in the £5 admission price.
