RETRO tribute outfit The Complete Stone Roses will usher in 2010 with a celebratory Perth gig.
The popular soundalikes are being joined by Perth-based favourites The Number and local DJ talents at a special Hogmanay bash at the Ice Factory.
Faithful versions of classic tracks by The Stone Roses – regarded as one of the UK’s most influential bands – will make up the Shore Road headliners’ set.
Partly thanks to the Completes, John Squire / Ian Brown efforts like Fools Gold, I Am The Resurrection and I Wanna Be Adored remain as recognisable now as they were 20 years ago, and former Roses bassist Mani - who’s with Primal Scream these days - has even played onstage with the band.
Fronted by Perth’s own Jon McKenzie, CSR have also performed alongside Clint Boon from Inspiral Carpets and the legendary Bez from Happy Mondays.
Others who are Completes fans include Andy Rourke (The Smiths), Rick Witter (Shed 7), Shane MacGowan (The Pogues), Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and New Order’s Peter Hook.
The band supported Happy Mondays and The Farm at the Get Loaded Festival last August, and have also appeared at Ireland’s Oxegen festival and T in the Park.
McKenzie and co play everything from early Roses material like Tell Me and Here It Comes right through to Second Coming cuts such as Love Spreads and Tightrope.
They’ve also done their fair share of TV and they filmed dramatic reconstruction scenes for BBC documentary Blood on the Turntable, which looked at Stone Roses’ bitter feud with Silvertone Records.
A tech-house set from Perth DJ Kev Murphy under the alias Ni-Vek will close the Hogmanay bash, while the Ice Factory’s main room will be compered by Obadee from Edinburgh’s Dancemania.
Room Two will have Adam May playing a selection of progressive house, techno DJ Ivan Latta and electro-house guru Kev Colonel.
Drum and bass sounds will be supplied by Nicki P and JMD over two hours.
The over-18s event runs from 9.30pm-3am. Tickets are available from That Bar, The Tavern, Roca Blu in Perth and Dundee’s Grouchos Records.
Alternatively, contact Colin Hart on 07907 025751.
