Curtain on the festival

THE eclectic programme for this year’s Perth Festival draws to a close on Sunday with the sell-out Bell Lawrie Festival Concert in Perth Concert Hall featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Lesley Garrett and Julian Lloyd Webber.

Tomorrow’s sold-out events are Irish comedian Dara O Briain and The Great Gilbert and Sullivan Show.

Tickets are still available for tonight’s events: Calvin Harris in Perth Concert Hall and Rodney Bewes’ one-man show, On Stage and Off, in Perth Theatre.

And music lovers can tune into Perthshire born and raised mezzo-soprano Rowan Hellier for her ‘Music on a Saturday Morning’ concert in St John’s Kirk at 11am tomorrow.

The festival art exhibitions continue at various venues around town, and tomorrow and Sunday the stalls will be in place along Tay Street for Art on the River, where visitors can browse and buy the work of artists and craft workers.

The Bell Lawrie Festival Concert at Perth Concert Hall

THE curtain came down on the 2008 Perth Festival of the Arts with a star-studded gala concert featuring four international artists performing a selection of popular works with the world renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. To have one high calibre soloist appearing with the orchestra would be a highlight, but to have a line-up of four famous artists of this calibre was to make this concert very special indeed. Read
