Blood Red Shoes to step out at Balado

GRUNGE outfit Blood Red Shoes top the list of names set to perform on a new T in the Park platform this year.

The Brighton duo - Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter - will headline the Balado festival’s new Core Sports Arena on opening night Friday, July 11.

Blood Red Shoes’ long-awaited debut album, Box Of Secrets, cracked the UK’s top 50 on its release last month.

Often compared to The White Stripes, the proudly punk pair cite United States underground bands like Babes In Toyland, Nirvana, Fugazi and Sonic Youth as major influences, along with English guitar outfits Blur and PJ Harvey.

The line-up for the Relentless-sponsored 12th stage at the sold-out Kinross-shire extravaganza will also include Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong, Bombay Bicycle Club and Haunts (all July 11).

Cancer Bats, F***ed Up, Ghost Of A Thousand, Fighting With Wire, David Sold His Soul and Skirtbox all feature on the following day, with The Presets, Holy F***, Metronomy, Johnny Foreigner, Sparkadia and The Rushes up on July 13.

The new venue will also cater for fans of extreme sports, with skaters, BMXers and bikers like Martyn Ashton, Sam Reynolds and Blake Samson performing stunts.
