Glasvegas bring their own sunshine for top Saturday T set
THE outfit branded ‘Britain’s hottest band’ blew the roof off the Futures tent on Saturday.
This four-piece from Glasgow’s East End deserve all the hype, but it was a shame only a small audience could squeeze in to Futures – surely event organisers could have done some hasty re-scheduling to give these lads and lassie their rightful podium which would not left so many fans disappointed on the outside while proceedings inside were going off the Richter scale?
Glasvegas have gone for the Men in Black image, and frontman James Allan is Mr Cool: the colour comes in the Glasvegas sound, which is best not pigeon-holed. Suffice to say their catchy pop and no-nonsense rock ’n’ roll blows through the music industry like a breath of fresh air.
They entertain to please, and are pleased to entertain, not shunning the quirky road – ‘You are My Sunshine’ had the crowd cheering – and at the same time are hugely impressive with their self-penned numbers. Their ‘Its My Own Cheatin’ Heart That Makes Me Cry’ which thrust them into the spotlight, and latest single ‘Geraldine’ were highlights in this set which was far, far too short.
Surely a Main Stage, prime time slot beckons for these ascending stars?
