T fans get awards call

MUSIC fans are being asked to help T in the Park in its bid to land four major festival awards.

The Balado extravaganza has been nominated for a quadruple whammy of titles in this year’s publicly voted UK Festival Awards - best major festival, best line-up, innovation award and best toilets.

A host of the 180 artists that appeared over the 2008 event’s 12 stages are also up for coveted gongs, including 2008 headliners Rage Against The Machine, The Verve and Kings Of Leon.

Those nominated in the best festival rock act category for their T sets include Biffy Clyro, Interpol, The Raconteurs, The Subways and We Are Scientists.

Music fans can show their support by voting at www.festivalawards.com, with all registered voters being entered into a ballot where they stand the chance to win a pair of tickets to every winning festival.

T in the Park’s latest nominations come after a spectacular recent run of award wins.

The event collected a trio of triumphs at the Scottish Event Awards including the Scottish grand prix event award for overall ceremony winner, best large festival and the green award, before being voted 4Music festival of the year at the recent Vodafone Live Awards.

Festival director Geoff Ellis told Music Scene: “We are delighted to be once again nominated for best major festival, it’s one we’ve won twice before, and it would be a fitting conclusion to the success of the festival’s 15th year to walk away with it again.

“We are massively committed to providing a spectacular line up, year on year, and hope that the fans will show us their support in the best line-up category also..”
