FRIENDS and former work colleagues from Alyth Health Centre joined Marion Duffy of Meigle when she celebrated the publication of her first novel, Eight of Cups.
It was written in partnership with Dr Elaine Atkins, and they use the pseudonym Mirren Jones to reflect their respective Scottish and Welsh roots.
Eight of Cups spans 30 years and explores the notion of attachment in the lives of six women who first meet at university in Scotland in the 1970s.
Eagle-eyed readers will spot references to well-known local spots such as Belmont Camp, Birrell’s shoe shop, Greens’ Café, and Mennie's pub.
A self-published work, this new venture has been supported by The Bookshop, Blairgowrie, and local Waterstone’s booksellers.
Mirren Jones’ next novel, already in progress, will draw on the authors’ experiences in general practice.
