Artists go on display

THE public are invited to view the work of three artists who are competing to provide artwork for the Cornhill Macmillan Centre – the new palliative care unit at Perth Royal Infirmary.

Three artists who are competing to win a design competition to commission art for the gable end of new Cornhill Macmillan Centre building have their designs on display in the arrival corridor at PRI for staff and members of the public to view and give comment if they like.

The three artists – Joanna Kessell, Michael Vischocci and Alan Potter – have been short-listed and will present to the Arts Steering Group for the Cornhill Macmillan Centre. The group then decide on the final artist who will create the end piece.

Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT) are working with the Arts Steering Group to include artist opportunities within the new Cornhill Macmillan Centre.

Karine Neill, project development officer, said: “The building aims to reflect not only the quality care provided but will reflect the natural surrounds of the Perth and Kinross area. The ambiance will be welcoming and inclusive, and the atmosphere is designed to help allay some of the anxieties users are likely to feel.”

Three sites in the new centre have been identified as areas for art. This first area, the gable end commission, will be the arrival feature of the building.

The designs are on view until Thursday.
