Real feast of entertainment on the menu at Dundee Rep

DUNDEE Rep Theatre’s Spring 2009 season is headlined by a new Rep Ensemble production, Balgay Hill, from Scottish playwright Simon Macallum.

The season opens with the return of Dundee Rep Ensemble and National Theatre of Scotland’s award-winning Peer Gynt (May 26-30) as part of a UK tour.

Opening at Barbican Centre in London the production travels to Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Directed by Dominic Hill this exhilarating tale of a dreamer, liar and serial womanizer follows Peer Gynt as he lives life on the edge and embarks on an astonishing journey.

Balgay Hill runs from June 9-27 June. Directed by James Brining, Balgay Hill is a story about Dundee and Billy Mackenzie, one of its most famous sons. The lives of four fictional characters are woven into the real-life story of Billy Mackenzie and the Associates.

Balgay Hill explores his unpredictable talents, the importance of heroes, Dundee in the 80’s and the present day.
