YET another inspired Tune Up collaboration tour is heading to Perth when Scottish-based flautist and traditional singer Nuala Kennedy comes together with the French flamenco-jazz group Azulejos to perform as Voyage de Nuit.
The group were formed at the prestigious International World Music Residency OMI in NYC in 2007 and will play brand new material composed by Nuala Kennedy with Phillipe Guidat of Azulejos alongside tracks from Azulejos’ new album La Fontaine Des Vignes (on which Kennedy provides guest vocals).
The musical programme takes its inspiration from people and places, love and laughter, tears and sadness.
The international five-strong line-up is Philippe Guidat from France (guitar); Ireland’s Scottish-based Nuala Kennedy (flute/vocals); Mario Caribe (double bass) from Brazil and living in Scotland (he’s a member of Moishe’s Bagle); Diego Landivar (percussion) from Bolivia; and Luke Daniels (accordion), England.
The 18-date Voyage de Nuit tour opened in the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, on June 3, and closes at Perth Theatre Redrooms on Monday, June 22, at 8pm. Tickets for the Perth gig are £10 (concessions £8) from the box offices at Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall, telephone 01738 621031 and online www.horsecross.co.uk
