ALY Bain and Phil Cunningham have two Perthshire dates on their annual Scottish tour, which opened last night in Durness Village Hall.
The veteran performers, who delight audiences with their virtuoso playing – Aly on fiddle and Phil on accordion – and tremendous banter, continue to pursue busy careers, and Phil was most recently seen in Perth and Kinross playing a fantastic set with Paolo Nutini and his band at T in the Park.
Both Phil and Aly have a number of doctorates, and this year they were given honorary Music Degrees by the University of Edinburgh. Phil is also busy these days helping and encouraging up and coming talent as a professor at the RSAMD.
The busy musicians come to Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday (tickets 01738 621 031 or email: info@horsecross.co.uk) and Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Sunday, September 6 (tickets 01796 484 626 or www.pitlochry.org.uk).
Phil and Aly are also doing a short run of concerts just before Christmas, which includes a Fiddle Tree appearance at the Birnam Arts Centre on Wednesday, December 2. Tickets are now on sale online from www.thebooth.co.uk
The Fiddle Tree is a non-profit group promoting live music and dance in the Birnam and Dunkeld area.
