Orchestral concert date

PERTH Symphony Orchestra will present the first of two concerts this winter at Perth Concert Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The programme will open with Dvorak’s popular Carnival Overture, an ever-popular crowd pleaser. The main work of the first half is Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings which will highlight the orchestra’s string section.

The second half is entirely devoted to a performance of Borodin’s Second Symphony.

Conductor of PSO Allan Young said: “The concert on Saturday is sure to be an enjoyable evening for all with a lovely mixture of romantic melodies and rousing tunes.

“The orchestra is growing every year and as a result of this increase, we are able to tackle more ambitious repertoire.”

PSO’s second concert of the winter is in February when the orchestra will combine with local singing groups as part of the Perth 800 celebrations to perform Tolga Kashif’s Queen Symphony, a six movement work based on the melodies and rhythmic motifs from songs of the rock band Queen.

Tickets for Saturday are available from Perth Concert Hall.
