Aladdin lined up for Perth Theatre next Christmas
PERTH Theatre will be resounding with boos, hisses, singing and shouts of “oh yes you can!” next Christmas as traditional family pantomime Aladdin returns to the Fair City stage.
The 2010 Christmas production coincides with the 75th anniversary of Perth Theatre Company and will be directed by Ian Grieve, creative director of theatre at Horsecross Arts.
Ian said: “This year’s Christmas musical Pinocchio was a fantastic show for us, but, for our 75th anniversary, we wanted to put on a good old family panto.
“I have never directed Aladdin before so I am delighted with the choice. It is possibly the most classic of all pantomimes, perfect for this special year for us and for Perth 800.
“We will make it a real local celebration with plenty of audience participation, singing along, shouting out – and generally loads of fun!”
Early bookers can buy tickets from next Friday – January 15.
Claire Wilcock, marketing manager, showed that the festive spirit is still going strong at Horsecross Arts as she tried on the Aladdin costume for size.
