THE Stepping Stone Theatre Company – a drama group of individuals with learning disabilities – launched a DVD at a special event in the AK Bell Library theatre on Saturday.
The group provides opportunities for service users to express their feelings, opinions and use their artistic abilities and interpretations in front of various different audiences. The group’s aim is to improve services users’ self confidence, esteem, speech, and concentration.
Stepping Stones’ chairman Alexander Stewart said: “Everyone at the Stepping Stone Theatre Company are delighted with our promotional DVD which we have designed, developed and launched.
“We are extremely proud of the DVD and were pleased we could share the special occasion of its launch with those who have played a major role in its development.
“This DVD has been some time in the making and the results are exceptional – it is an excellent production! I must commend the superb cast of the Stepping Stone Theatre Company for their consistent professionalism and dedication to their craft. They ensure that we receive many accolades from all who attend our performances. Time and time again feedback from audiences has shown that the impact of the performances has seen them leave the theatre inspired and emotionally uplifted.
“Ultimately, the families and supporters of the group members are paramount to our success; none of this success would be possible without their selfless commitment to this life changing opportunity. The launch was a first class opportunity to allow me to thank all of them for their selfless dedication to the Company. They must be very proud.
“I should also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Colin McCredie, the well-known actor, who has featured in Taggart, the Patron of the Stepping Stone Theatre Company. Colin has been extremely supportive, sharing his extensive experience with us to ensure that we have delivered the most professional productions at all times.
“And last but not least we have to mention our financial contributors who have been very generous and allowed us to develop into the success story that we are today, these include Perth and Kinross Council, the Gannochy Trust and a number of individual benefactors.”
