New faces for Perth Amateur Operatic

PERTH Amateur Operatic Society has, down the years, consistently produced and performed productions of an outstanding calibre as can be evidenced by their sell-out performances every Spring.

This year the Society has been able to attract a wealth of new talent to swell its ranks including a number of accomplished school pupils and some individuals who have recently performed with Perth’s other Society, Perth City Operatic.

The new recruits and established Society members are busy in rehearsals for Thoroughly Modern Millie, which is based on the 1967 film starring Julie Andrews and tells the story of the small town girl who comes to New York and takes delight in the flapper lifestyle of the roaring 20’s. This production is a funny and entertaining musical for all ages and opens in Perth Theatre on Friday, April 2.

Company President Pamela Coventry said: “The Society was delighted to be able to swell our ranks with a large intake of new members who will add to our already well established company.

“We were also fortunate in that some individuals have joined us this year to support backstage because a performance of that calibre would not be able to be produced without individuals giving their time and talents to support us offstage.”
