Most successful Perth Festival of the Arts

THE 39th Perth Festival of the Arts came to a highly successful conclusion on Sunday with the Brewin Dolphin Festival Concert with The Halle Orchestra and internationally famous Alison Balsom on trumpet in Perth Concert Hall.

The previous evening the venue had a roof-lifting performance by Sharleen Spiteri, former Texas frontman, and her seven-piece band who wowed the sell-out audience with a diverse range of pop, rock, blues and ballads.

Reviews of Festival events over the final couple of days will appear in Friday’s PA.

Festival administrator Sandra Ralston reflected on the 11-day event: “It looks like it’s been a record year for the Festival. We are still digesting all the data but to have had so many sell-out shows is unprecedented.

“We sold out two of the three operas, Don McLean, Sharleen Spiteri, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and the Moscow State Orchestra, which was absolutely incredible, and we’ve had lots of requests from people to become Friends of the Festival after they enjoyed this year so much.”
