Author Andrew Dempster to visit AK Bell Library

PERTHSHIRE-based author Andrew Dempster will visit the AK Bell Library in Perth on Tuesday, May 10, to deliver an illustrated talk on coastal walks in Scotland.

With a keen interest in outdoor pursuits, especially walking, back-packing and mountaineering, Andrew is the author of several books including Classic Mountain Scrambles in Scotland, The Munro Phenomenon and The Grahams.

His new book due out next week on Mainstream Publishing, 100 Classic Coastal Walks in Scotland, covers the whole spectrum of Scotland’s dramatic, extensive and ever-varying coastline. This unique guide brings together a varied choice of walks, from short, relaxed beach strolls to something more serious like a full-day hike which requires mountain gear and total commitment.

All aspects of the Scottish coastline – from quaint fishing ports and long sun-bleached strands to vast golf links and grand Gothic cliffs – are explored.

Tickets for the May 10 talk, which starts at 7.30pm, are £5 and can be purchased from the AK Bell Library. For further information, call 01738 477019.
