THE glamour of the West End comes to Scotland next month when Perth Concert Hall plays host to the legendary London musical Blood Brothers.
The multi-award winning production starring X Factor’s Niki Evans recently celebrated its 21st year in London and continues to enjoy standing ovations at every performance.
Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences. The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.
Written by Willy Russell (Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine), and produced by Bill Kenwright, Blood Brothers has been aptly described as “the musical for all time”, the immensely powerful story guaranteed to not to leave a dry eye in the house!
The iconic role of Mrs Johnstone, mother of the twins, has been played by a series of successful singers and actresses including Barbara Dickson, four of the Nolan Sisters and gained ex-Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm an Olivier nomination in 2009.
Hailed as the most convincing Mrs Johnstone to date, an accolade she puts down to previous jobs cleaning toilets and working in factories, Niki Evans said: “It’s a fantastic piece of theatre and great for people who haven’t seen any before or don’t think they’re interested. The story is relevant today.”
Blood Brothers is in Perth Concert Hall from Monday, July 11, to Saturday, July 16.
