Jambouree Choir’s Summer Serenade

ST LEONARDS-in-the-Fields Church in Perth is the venue on Sunday evening for the Jambouree Choir’s ‘Summer Serenade’.

Variety is the keynote in the wide-ranging programme, exploring show and film music, as well as traditional Scottish songs and opera. The multi-talented performers also include instrumentalists.

For more than 20 years John Scrimger attracted full houses to Dundee’s Whitehall Theatre with his hugely popular ‘Sounds Spectacular’ summer shows.

He now enjoys a new lease of life re-arranging and accompanying some of those medleys for the fresh young voices that will revive them on Sunday.

Now self-supporting, the choir was recently chosen to receive a £500 cheque under the Caring for Kids project, and this has enabled the purchase of new music and other necessities.

Jambouree’s debut CD, ‘The Spirit of Perth’, has also enjoyed both airtime and healthy sales.

Essentially a fun choir with no auditions, the group operates on several levels – providing an introduction to singing for the youngest members; preparation for performance examinations and competitive singing for the more advanced; and as a confidence-building public platform for the popular Cabaret Group.

Ages range from seven to 22 and all will be represented on Sunday.

Curtain up is at 7pm, and tickets (£10, children and students £5) can be obtained from Concorde in Scott Street, Perth, or at Theo and Tilley.
