Glasvegas to headline Famous Grouse Festival

NME award-winning band Glasvegas have been revealed as the headline act at The Famous Grouse Festival on Saturday, August 13.

The festival will run for the first time on Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13, at Scotland’s oldest working distillery on the outskirts of Crieff.

The Glasgow band have performed at festivals around the world including Glastonbury and T in the Park. They released their second album, Euphoric Heartbeat, in April after their self-named debut album went platinum in the UK.

Glasvegas have also supported some of the biggest names in music including Oasis, Kings of Leon, U2 and Muse.

Tracy McCafferty, general manager of The Famous Grouse Experience, said: “We are thrilled to have Glasvegas performing at the festival on the Saturday night. It is now less than a month away and we are expecting tickets to sell out soon so I urge anyone who is planning to come to buy their tickets now.”

The Famous Grouse Festival marks the end of a special year celebrating 30 years as the number one selling whisky in Scotland.

The music and whisky festival will run from 4.30pm to 10.30pm on the Friday, and 3pm to 10.30pm on the Saturday.

The Famous Grouse Master Blender, Gordon Motion, will be on site to host exclusive whisky tastings; mixologist Andy Gemmell, best known for his regular appearances on The Hour, will be conducting cocktail demos throughout the festival; and other music acts include Donnie Munro, Jill Jackson, Michael Marra, The Gospel Truth Choir and Skerryvore.

Festival-goers travelling from Perth, Glasgow or Edinburgh can call The Famous Grouse on 01764 656565 to get a place on a free return bus from the centre of each city (seats limited to 50 from each city).
