Perth Drama Club thespians look to entertain public as winter looms

AFTER years of playing at different venues, Perth Drama Club have settled at Perth College’s Goodlyburn Theatre.

Members are currently ‘getting their act together’ ahead of Perth and Kinross Council’s provost, Dr John Hulbert, attending the club’s latest dress rehearsal at their home on Wednesday.

The enthusiastic amateur thespians will perform three one-act plays on October 20, 21 and 22. They are ‘The Reunion’, ‘Politics in the Park’ and ‘You Don’t Know Me’.

Winning critical acclaim for the club, ‘You Don’t Know Me’, written by local playwright Carolyn McCole, achieved third place in the Scottish Community Drama Association Festival earlier this year.

Perth Drama Club, a registered charity, has been entertaining crowds since the Second World War. The group has recently designed and launched their first website, which is proving extremely popular and contains useful information regarding membership, future productions and ticket sales.

Vice-president Barry Tweed made a pitch to Perth residents seeking entertainment over the darker evenings.

“Now that the nights are beginning to draw in, let us brighten up your evenings with our productions at this fantastic venue,” he declared.

“I would urge everyone to book early, as we expect a big demand for the limited amount of tickets available for this one-off spectacle.

“We would be delighted to see members of the public supporting this hard working and dedicated team.”

Tickets priced £8 and £6 for concessions are available at Concorde Music Store, Scott Street, Perth. For more information see www.perthdramaclub.co.uk
