PROVOST John Hulbert joined Horsecross Arts chief executive Jane Spiers at Perth Concert Hall yesterday to welcome Perth 800 launch act Off Kilter to the Fair City.
The critically-acclaimed feisty and fabulous celebration of dance and music styles which are alive and kicking in Scotland performed in Perth Concert Hall last evening and give their second performance in Perth tonight at 7.30pm.
Meeting members of the company Provost Hulbert said: “It is a real feather in the cap of Perth to have this spectacular and colourful dance show at Perth Concert Hall, to help begin our Perth 800 celebrations.
“I was interested to meet the Off Kilter dancers to find out more about the show, and it really does sound fantastic. It will help ensure that Perth 800 really does go off with a bang.”
Jane Spiers commented: “Off Kilter kicks off an amazing line-up of shows and projects at Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre for Perth 800. We are celebrating this exciting year in true Horsecross style with something for everyone, plenty of opportunity to get involved and world class events.”
The Off Kilter performances to launch Perth 800 are the first of a year long programme of events which will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the granting of the Royal Burgh Charter to Perth by King William the Lion of Scotland in 1210.
l For those inspired to dance by the Off Kilter spectacular, Horsecross is offering a series of free music and dance workshops on an Indian theme in the run up to its Perth 800 Samaagam event in March.
Other Perth 800 events to look forward to from Horsecross Arts include Perth Concert Hall’s 5th Birthday Carnival in September and Lightnight in November.
